The limited edition time capsule that Kaltenbach created exclusively for ICI is at the heart of this practice, a series of sealed steel containers. One of Stephen Kaltenbach’s time capsules. It contains specific but mysterious instructions for its use. A steel pipe welded shut, concealing secret contents, the owner may only open it just prior to selling it off, making certain that the contents will only be known once they can no longer be possessed and raising the question: is the artwork the same after it has been opened, or is it changed in some fundamental way?
