DESIGN: Stainless steel staircase and handrail with walnut treads
A true industrial staircase with a modern twist integrates hairpin bends and exposed structure to connect three levels of this upstate New York home. A slightly offset center tube stringer, notched joints, geometric cut risers and clean lines update an otherwise classic design.
The staircase is structurally supported by hanging ceiling rods. Poor access to the space, due to small elevator, meant a two week installation, tenting and ventilating around the workspace.
