Crane Staircase
LOCATION: New York, NY
DESIGN: Crane Staircase
Serett was approached by an Engineering Company based in Long Island, NY to build a custom staircase for their office. A majority of the engineers’ work involves using cranes and they wanted that reflected in the design of the staircase. A unique challenge faced in this project was in producing the mechanical structures to appear as if they were originally from Crane and were recycled for the fabrication of the stairs.
Constructed modularly, Serett fabricated the pieces in-shop and assembled on-site. Each part was passed through a window with a crane. All connections are pinned together using a clevis pin and a custom spun. We utilized a trust structure, replicating the easily recognizable crane triangle pattern and increasing the stability of the staircase.
This bold fire engine red staircase is a real eye catcher contrasted against the sea of neutral color within the office.
